get ready to ride

You don’t have to be an expert skier or snowboarder to ride with us, but you do need an adequate skill set and fitness level to enjoy helicopter skiing. Our approach is to ensure that your experience is personal – we will answer your questions while discussing every aspect of the day in order to pick the appropriate terrain for you.

safety focused

All of our guests are provided with safety equipment which includes an airbag pack, beacon, shovel, and probe. Each morning our guests are trained in the basics of avalanche safety and how to use their safety equipment. After orientation, our guides prepare for the day by picking appropriate runs based off of each group's ability level and current snow conditions.

Prior to the arrival of our guests, our guides and forecasters discuss the current snowpack, avalanche conditions, and aviation considerations for each day's adventure. When you climb aboard the helicopter and head into the backcountry, you can be sure our team is there for you and will make every effort to ensure the best possible experience.

HELICOPTERS & PILOTS

Whether it's your first or fiftieth time, there is nothing like the rush of riding in a helicopter as it lifts off, accelerates, and descends. Soak in an unmatched, bird's-eye view of mountain crags and your upcoming runs right from your seat, while enjoying the convenience of the helicopter's speed. You are here to ski, after all.

Powderbird's A-Star helicopters—ideal for winter mountain flying—offer a truly unique perspective as you fly above and weave through endless mountainscapes. Enjoy it all, regardless of your skiing or snowboarding abilities.

ski every day - guaranteed

Our heliport at Snowbird receives an average of 500" of snow a year. While all of that snow can lead to incredible skiing and snowboarding, it also means that sometimes weather or avalanche conditions do not allow us to fly or venture into the backcountry. Our guest's safety is always our number one priority. When this happens, our guests don't miss out. Instead, they receive a VIP experience at Snowbird with a Powderbird guide and lift line cutting access, while enjoying a catered breakfast and lunch at the Powderbird heliport.

No matter what Mother Nature decides to deliver you’ll have access to the best powder skiing Utah has to offer!
