escape the crowds

Utah's best helicopter skiing

Founded in 1973 as one of the world’s first helicopter ski operators, Powderbird has grown into a premier, year-round, international guide service.

Today our professional guide team is dedicated to providing our clients with the pinnacle experiences in guided helicopter skiing and mountain adventures.

flights depart daily from snowbird & PArk City

Powderbird provides premier single day, multi-day, and helicopter skiing + lodging packages at our home in Snowbird, Park City, and internationally. Our heli-skiing/riding adventures depart daily from our heliport at Snowbird and our clubhouse in Park City. Both locations directly access premier resort skiing at Snowbird, Alta, Deer Valley, and Park City.

We ski on the largest commercially permitted area in Utah. With our helicopters and within our permitted area, we access more terrain than all of Utah's ski resorts combined. Our ski terrain is blanketed with over 500+ inches of the world-famous Utah powder each winter. This low-density snow blankets a variety of alpine bowls, open meadows, and chutes, drawing deep powder enthusiasts from all over the world.

the pinnacle day

Start the day with a warm breakfast at the Powderbird heliport and a weather briefing from your Powderbird guide. Boot-up and fly into the backcountry to ride Utah's coveted powder snow. Each day of helicopter riding is based on 6 runs and 7 flights. After exploring the awe-inspiring Wasatch mountain range, fly back to the Powderbird heliport to enjoy après ski and the evening's sunset. Finish the day with one of the the Cliff Lodge Spa's rejuvenating treatments or unwind poolside.

ski every day - guaranteed

At Powderbird, our search for the best snow never stops.

No matter the weather, our professional guide team is committed to taking our clients to the absolute best skiing they can find- whether that's via helicopter, cat, lift or touring.

Powderbird offers registered guests a variety of exclusive mountain experiences for days when we cannot fly due to weather or safety concerns.

what to expect

Powderbird has experiences that cater to everyone from veteran heli-skiers/riders to first-time backcountry skiers/riders. Our expert guide team will assess the terrain and conditions and take you to the safest and best possible ski conditions. This diverse terrain allows you to spread wide and escape the crowds of the resort.

the most accessible

Powderbird bases are nestled in the beautiful Wasatch Mountain Range surrounded by an abundance of world class ski resorts. Remarkably, these locations are a mere 45 minutes from Salt Lake City International Airport where direct flights from London, Paris, Amsterdam, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and New York arrive everyday. With Salt Lake nearby, a day gliding through powder in the mountains can easily be capped off with fine dining or an NBA game in the valley!
explore international helicopter skiing

In 2002 our team formed Powderbird International and set off to Greenland for our first exploratory helicopter skiing expedition. Upon our arrival, we discovered a land with near infinite skiing possibilities and set about building an operation to meet the professional standards of Powderbird. Powderbird has continued to expand our international operations with trips in Greenland, South America and beyond.
