Powderbird is Now Operating!

Wasatch Powderbird Guides is proud to announce that we are off and running in 2012! Our guests have been skiing and riding in some great backcountry conditions with the snowiest months still to come. We are flying out of our Snowbird heliport and our brand new base located at Canyons Resort with both bases accessing the same terrain and guides staff. Happy New Year: Conditions Update

As many people have realized, Utah is off to a slow start with snow totals thus far. Low snow totals makes finding good backcountry runs difficult, as well as popular in-bounds stashes. Utah has always delivered the goods, even in dry years Powderbird has overcome the challenge and pulled through to turn our clients on to fantastic skiing and riding. We are encouraging our clients to book their heli-skiing trips with us in February and March this year, allowing time for the backcountry to fill in. Building our second location

We are excited to announce the build out of our second location! Located at the Sundial Lodge at Canyons Resort this 1,400 square foot facility will be our new home, meeting area and base operations for guests flying out of the Park City area. Along with our state of the art heliport located at Snowbird, our new base will allow room for a retail shop, guide locker room, client lounge and concierge desk. Both Canyons and Snowbird bases have access to the same terrain and world class staff that you have come to know and trust. To book a trip call 801.742.2800

Anticipation

We are so close to being able to fly. Our special use permit from the US Forest Service allows us to start operating on December 15, 2011. The snowpack in the back country is still setting up and we hope to be operational soon. With locations at Snowbird and Canyons Resort, the backcountry has never been more accessible. Join Powderbird during your 2011/2012 ski season from either location to hit those famous backcountry lines you dream of and find yourself waist deep in the Greatest Snow on Earth! 

 

Opening day at Powderbird a few weeks away!

The storms are stacking up and the Wasatch Mountains are getting a good amount of early season snow fall. Most resorts in the state are planning on opening before Thanksgiving and Powderbird is planning our opening day for December 15, 2011. With operations at Snowbird and Canyons Resort, December 2011 is setting up to be a great month to get into the backcountry for fresh tracks and stunning views.
