Safety and Guides |

Your safety is always our first priority. Our Greenland trip is no exception. We charter a state-of-the-art helicopter to support our ski operation. The heliport in Greenland is an excellent facility with all of the modern conveniences needed at a heliport. Kevin O'Rourke, Rusty Dassing, Michael Olson, and Pete Patterson are the guides who run the trip. They are all highly qualified and guide each winter at their respective companies in the United States. Maniitsoq hosts a full service hospital with an operating room and on call physicians. For a major medical emergency, the capital of Nuuk can be accessed in by helicopter in one hour. Their facility has an extensive care unit. Your Guides
Rusty Dassing began guiding with Wasatch Powderbird Guides since 1984. He is a full-time guide with WPG and guided rafting trips in the Grand Canyon for years. Guiding, skiing, kayaking, rafting, and trekking have taken him many places throughout the US, as well as to Canada, Chile, Peru, Thailand, Indonesia, Honduras, Guatemala, Belize, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, and Ecuador. He is the President of Wasatch Powderbird Guides and makes his home outside of Park City, Utah.
Pete Patterson skied for 10 years on the US Ski Team and has over 15 years of experience guiding heli-skiing. Pete skied in 2 Olympics and captured a Bronze medal at the 1978 World Championships. Upon retiring from ski racing in 1985 he began guiding heli-skiing in his home town of Sun Valley, Idaho. He currently operates Mountain Spirits. WPG enjoys teaming up with Pete and Mountain Spirits to offer you this amazing vacation. |

Kevin
O'Rourke has been working for WPG since 1992. Kevin began his
education in snow safety by working with the Alta Ski Patrol. In addition
to being the General Manager and a lead guide at WPG, Kevin directs
our Greenland Heli-skiing Program. He has skied throughout the US and
in Alaska, Greenland, New Zealand, and Nepal on numerous ski expeditions.
Originally form New York, Kevin resides in Alta, Utah when not traveling.
Michael "Ole" Olson moved
to Utah in 1978 and joined the Alta Ski Patrol. He joined the full time
staff of WPG in 1985. Ole has been a member of many expeditions around
the world including a number in Nepal, Alaska, Greenland, and South America.
One of the lead guides for WPG, Ole is originally from Montana and now
makes Salt Lake City, Utah his home.
