Greenland is the largest non-continental island in the world, with a coastline
40,000 km long and
2,175,600 sq. km of total area. Most of Greenland lies below 1000 meters
of ice, the burden so great that the island's interior is
compressed to below sea level. Around its edges the icecap spills down
into thousands of glaciers, sculpting out the fjords and rugged mountain
ranges. It is here where the glaciers clash with the North Atlantic that
we are blessed with some of the most scenic and best ski terrain on the
globe.
Since 1999, your guides have been exploring the
endless ski and snowboard possibilities. There is every type of ski
terrain imaginable, from Alaska style steeps to long, gentle glacial
runs. Greenland offers
big vertical, runs can average 3,000 - 5,000 feet!
There are limitless opportunities for first descents, dry polar powder,
and long ski days. We will travel by boat and helicopter to
the many fjords and seek out the best runs from mountain top to seaside.
We will also enjoy the abundant sea life and spectacular landscapes.
Our
heli week can be based out of a variety of locations, giving our clients
the opportunity to choose between three unique Greenland experiences.
The numerous surrounding
mountain ranges
offer us endless terrain and
opportunities to ski new runs. Both intermediate and expert skiers
will find the terrain
and challenges they desire. Wasatch Powderbird Guides has teamed
up with Mountain Spirits to provide you with the best helicopter skiing
in Greenland.
Greenland seasons tend to sell out
at least a year in advance. Don't miss out on this opportunity to discover
and ski new runs in Greenland's incredible mountain paradise!
